Caring for a RWF horse:
All RWF horses are used in conjunction with habilitation counseling and as general lesson horses.
Costs for each horse is approximately $200/month that includes hay, grain, bedding, farrier, and annual shots.
Some horses require greater care than others due to age or past injury.
If you wish to sponsor a horse for the day, week or month, click on the donation button below and add the amount you wish to contribute.
Current General Needs:
R.I.P, John and Jane Sandor acquired their own acreage and rescued horses. His family life included caring for rescued dogs, cats, horses, fish, frogs, a turtle and a hamster. John found peace in a pasture with his horses or spending time with his wife, daughters and their families. John and his wife, Jane have loved and supported RWF for several years.
R.I.P Twister - The foundation horse of RWF in 2008. This "tank" of a horse was a gentle giant with a side of ornery. He loved the kids that came to see him and had a special place in the hearts of many. Twister died of Lymphoscarcoma under the care and compassion of Purdue University. (May 15, 2000, to March 5, 2014).
Cowboy and Tippy were the best of friends. They both passed on the same day on March 24th of 2022. Cowboy was the big brother of Rowdy, and both had the true heart of the Arabian breed. Tippy was a barn favorite with his antics and orneriness.
~Loved always and never forgotten. ~
Rest easy brother Rowdy. Rowdy was a sensitive boy with lots of love. His favorite thing to do was give hugs for a treat. Rowdy passed 1.5 years after his brother Cowboy on 9/25/23.
R.I.P Woody - Woody came into our lives and needed some extra love to regain his trust in humans, or so he wanted us to believe. He was kind of a cranky old man but would give his heart to anyone willing to spend the time to get to know him. Woody was with us for 8 yrs and passed at the age of 25 on Sept. 17, 2019.
R.I.P Jack - On October 27th Jack was taken from us too soon, Jack is now at peace and running around with his friends. He was extremely loved and a big part of our lives, he will be missed but never forgotten.
R.I.P Sawyer - Sawyer was the 1st horse that RWF rescued. He spent the last 12 years of his life with us and enjoyed the youth that came to see him. He was 39 yrs old when he passed on February 17, 2020.
R.I.P "Big Guy" - Buster sadly passed of a suspected stroke on June 21, 2016, at
the young age of 25.
R.I.P Whiskey - Whiskey was owned and loved by Steve, Melissa and Sydney Juillerat. Really, Whiskey was loved by everyone at the RWF barn. Even though at first, he had trust issues he quickly began to love those at RWF. Unfortunately, he was taken from us too soon at the age of 15 when he passed away on Tuesday September 22, 2020.
